In my journey, I have often looked to literature as a place of peace, escape, and community. Books have also been the link to many of the relationships in my life. I am not a prolific writer, but it is my hope to share some of the great, and and not so great stories that have crossed my path.
We all have a type. No, I am not talking about relationships, more so the books we choose to give our time to. My natural selection leans toward Historical Fiction, Historical Nonfiction, Self Improvement, Classical Literature, and Contemporary Literary Fiction. A recent tangent of mine is working through some of the Pulitzer Prize winners for Fiction and History. Fortunately, my book clubs stretch me outside my comfort zone into spheres that make me think, question, and learn.
In conjunction with my Church, I facilitate a monthly book club, at my house, on the third Monday of each month. We tend to gravitate toward historical fiction and contemporary literary fiction with a focus on those that highlight strong female characters. We are all women, it just happened that way, and love literary works that capture the strength of women in all roles that we serve. We have great food, excellent wine, and the company of fabulously strong women. The discussion is laid back, but we do really talk about the book. While none of us are literary critics by trade, we all love to ready! We are all different ages, shapes, backgrounds, you name it, and we enjoy the different perspectives that come out of each discussion. If you are in the area and interested in joining, please send me a message or complete the contact form.
